relationship with place
Starts with Place Ends with You
It takes a Village.
Southern Appalachia is among the Earth's greatest landscapes; more life lives and exists here and has for 10,000s of thousands of years. This life is threatened by the yuppyfication, or “atlantafication” of Appalachia.
We aim to inform sustainable development, and help foster a curiosity that leads to a relationship with place.
We cannot achieve our goals alone. Find out how you can help.
Come Hell or High Water. Appalachian Strong.
Hurricane Helene was a katana, a deadly Japanese sword, to the gut of our old friend, the Southern Appalachia mountains, a landscape ancient and weathered. With flora and fauna diverse and unique- of which, don't forget, humans are a part- its hills and hollers, hidden valleys and waterways, are a landscape so old the light tells the story of time. It’s time for us to cauterize the wound, working in relationship with the land. Appalachians, rooted in Appalachia. To slow the land grabs, where possible, empower the people and conserve this place.
